ASML Honors TRUMPF for New EUV Laser
On Thursday, October 23, the Dutch technology company ASML honored TRUMPF with the prestigious Supplier Award in the Technology category. The recognition celebrates the joint success of developing and testing a new EUV high-energy laser for ASML’s next-generation lithography systems. The laser will power the world’s most advanced microchips, and TRUMPF expects series production to begin in 2026.
“ASML is very much looking forward to receiving the new TRUMPF lasers, as they will increase availability and power of our EUV products while reducing energy consumption,” said Sheila Leenders, Senior Vice President of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement at ASML.
The new EUV laser marks a major milestone in semiconductor manufacturing. It weighs more than 20 tons and contains over 450,000 individual parts. TRUMPF engineers completely redeveloped the system to boost reliability and availability in chip production. Moreover, the advanced design consumes less energy, helping customers cut CO₂ emissions and conserve resources throughout their facilities.
“The award from ASML highlights our team’s commitment and innovative strength,” said Volker Jacobsen, CEO EUV at TRUMPF. “It also underlines how our close partnership with ASML drives the semiconductor industry forward. Together, we continue to set new benchmarks for sustainability, performance, and innovation in chip manufacturing.”
The TRUMPF Supplier Award ASML was presented at the ASML Suppliers’ Day on October 23, 2025. The first deliveries of high-energy EUV lasers will begin in 2026. Meanwhile, both companies plan to strengthen collaboration to accelerate the next stage of EUV laser development.
