The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) — the premier technical society serving the needs of the tribology and lubrication engineering business sector — is hosting a STLE Virtual Symposium on Additives, July 21-22, 2026, from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. CT.

This symposium, “Additives,” explores the science, strategy, and application of lubricant additives across the manufacturing landscape. This event brings together leading additive and lubricant manufacturers to examine how different organizations approach the selection, blending, and implementation of chemical additive packages — from antiwear and extreme pressure agents to friction modifiers, detergents, dispersants, corrosion inhibitors, and viscosity index improvers.

“This virtual symposium provides insight into the current trends driving innovation in additive technology,” said Rebecca Lintow, CAE, STLE executive director. “This convenient event is an essential professional development opportunity for anyone involved in the development, specification, or application of lubricating fluids.”

Attendees will gain insights into:

  • How formulation philosophies differ across manufacturers
  • How base oil chemistry influences additive response
  • How evolving equipment demands and regulatory pressures are driving innovation in additive technology
  • Cross-industry perspective on the decisions and trade-offs that define modern lubricant formulation

The two-day registration fee is $99 for STLE members, $149 for non-members, and $25 for students. Registration includes access to live technical presentations on both days and on-demand recordings. For more information and to register, click here.
