Siemens Industry Announces 2011 Customer Excellence Award Winners

Siemens Industry, Inc. (Atlanta, GA) announced its Customer Excellence Award winners during its 2011 Automation Summit held in Orlando, FL, recognizing achievements of innovative applications by Siemens automation users.

DuPont was recognized as the Overall Customer Excellence Award winner for its Sabine River Works plant modernization project. As a major source for ethylene copolymers used in plastic packaging and in industry, DuPont implemented three major upgrades to replace obsolete DCS and associated control equipment. The five-year project resulted in the avoidance of a significant loss of earnings, improved high-hazard process safety monitoring and the prevention of environmental incidents.

AB InBev received the End User Customer Excellence Award for its implementation of SIMATIC PCS 7 V7.1, including SIMATIC BATCH, Route Control, CAS and AS-417 controllers, as well as the installation of SIMIT V7.0 testing automation software. The project was completed on-schedule, within budget and according to scope. After a 72-hour plant shutdown, the process was restarted and came back to full production, enhancing system performance, maintainability and usability.

DMC won the Siemens Solution Provider Customer Excellence Award. DMC, which serves the aerospace, automotive, building technologies, chemicals, metals, pharmaceuticals, plastics, specialty and machinery markets, was recognized for consistently making it easy for Siemens to position complete system solutions in many different applications.

Despatch Industries, the world’s leading manufacturer of industrial ovens and furnaces for the thermal technology, solar and carbon fiber industries, won the OEM Customer Excellence Award. Despatch used Industrial PC IPC-577 and Siemens Totally Integrated Automation for automation implementation and data collection in a simple architecture.
