Sheet Metal Workers? Local 36 (St. Louis, MO) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association of St. Louis (SMACNA) are pleased to announce that they have voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new labor agreement. The new contract was approved ahead of schedule and went into effect beginning August 1, 2009.

?Accepting the new agreement shows a great deal of respect between our skilled workers and contractors towards each other,? said Local 36 President and Business Manager David C. Zimmermann. ?Part of what allows our business to run successfully is making sure all parties involved are satisfied with the relationships that exist and accepting this new agreement can only help to enhance our future success.?

The new two-year contract calls for a six-month wage freeze, but is worded very similarly to the current contract with just a few minor changes. The Local and Contractors have added some minor language changes which will help insure that the Sheet Metal Workers and their Contractors, by working together, will attain even greater productivity levels and market share.

Sheet Metal Workers? Local 36 members design, fabricate, install, manufacture and service residential and commercial HVAC systems, and well as working with architectural sheet metal applications and specialty sheet metal products. They provide a skilled workforce to businesses throughout the region, and are active in numerous charitable organizations.
