Regulator Line Now Offers Complete Portfolio of Industrial Gas Management Solutions

Victor EDGE 2.0 Series regulators are now available for two-stage, line, station, manifold and high-capacity applications.

Victorâ, an ESAB brand, has unveiled five new EDGE 2.0 Series regulators to cover two-stage, line, station, manifold and high-capacity applications. EDGE 2.0 Series regulators are available for all common gases, including industrial air, oxygen, argon and other inert gases, CO2, N2O, hydrogen, methane, acetylene and alternate fuels such as natural gas and LP gas. All EDGE 2.0 Series regulators include the patented SLAM™ (Shock Limitation and Absorption Mechanism) safety technology, a long-life stainless-steel diaphragm and large, high-contrast gauge faces that enable operators to more easily see and set pressure.

The new Victor EDGE 2.0 Series includes the following models:

  • ETS42 heavy-duty, high-capacity two-stage cylinder regulators with built-in rear mounting option for enhanced flexibility when mounting in panels or other OEM-type equipment (replaces the VTS700, ETS4, and VTS450 families).
  • EST42 high-capacity, single-stage regulators for gas distribution and pipeline systems (replaces the EST4 family).
  • ESL42 high-capacity, single-stage regulators for gas distribution and pipeline systems (replaces the ESL4 family).
  • ELC42 single-stage, liquid cylinder regulators for inert gas, oxygen and CO2 (replaces the ELC4 family).
  • ESS72 heavy-duty, high-capacity, single-stage cylinder regulators (replaces SR700, ESS7 and others). A built-in rear mounting option uses 5/16-24 screws instead of a large coaxial nut, providing a more secure mounting that isn’t susceptible to rotation like traditional panel mount regulators.

“ESAB now offers Victor EDGE 2.0 Series regulators to cover all common industrial gas applications,” says Shiva Perisetty, Product Line Lead/Product Manager, ESAB. “The new EDGE 2.0 models will replace many of our legacy models, including first-generation EDGE products. The industry widely recognizes that the EDGE 2.0 design sets the standard for performance, safety, reliability and information clarity. In our latest version, a new seat design further improves stability and pressure/flow precision.”

Previously released Victor EDGE 2.0 regulators include the ESS32 (medium-duty) and ESS42 (heavy-duty single-stage cylinder regulators), which come standard in the Victor EDGE 2.0 Journeyman, Performer and Contender outfits for oxy-fuel cutting, heating and welding. Victor also offers the ESS32 PFH Pressure Flow Hybrid single stage cylinder regulators for pressure, nitrogen purging and brazing applications.

Patented Safety Benefits

All Victor EDGE 2.0 regulators improve safety through such features as the patented SLAM™ technology built into the adjusting knob. SLAM permits the knob to absorb the impact in the event of a cylinder fall. As with the previous version, the compact cylinder regulator design positions the gauges and other critical elements within the profile of many cylinders, enabling the cylinder to help shield the components from impact.

ESAB designed EDGE 2.0 regulators to pass the ASTM G-175 promoted ignition test. A patented particle trap captures heavier incoming particles and robs them of their explosive energy. A secondary diffuser is designed to capture lighter particles.

Long-Life Design

Instead of the traditional elastomer diaphragm found on competitive regulators and the old EDGE 1.0 design, EDGE 2.0 regulators feature a stainless diaphragm as requested by customers.

“The stainless diaphragm surpassed 50,000 UL endurance cycles before we stopped testing,” says Perisetty. “That is five times more than UL requires and twice as good as our EDGE 1.0 design.”

Better Visibility

EDGE 2.0 regulators feature a large diameter delivery gauge and use a high-contrast, color-coded gauge face that enables operators to more easily see and set delivery pressure. The cylinder pressure gauge (on cylinder models) is smaller and offset to create a difference in depth perception. Even from a distance, operators can tell if they have sufficient cylinder contents and if delivery pressure is within safe and acceptable ranges.

“EDGE 2.0 regulators also convey information not found on conventional designs,” says Perisetty. “For example, labels, chemical symbols and color codes indicate gas type. Text clearly spells out regulator type and maximum service pressure. For further clarification, LP (low pressure) and HP (high pressure) are molded into the gauge guard.”

Instead of plastic, the gauge guard on EDGE 2.0 models is made from a high-strength alloy. The modular gauge disassembles in about 30 seconds using a standard Torx driver, and an ultra-reliable O-ring seal eliminates messy Teflon® tape and pipe threads.
