New Series of Exchangeable Drill Inserts for Holemaking in High-strength Steel
Walter USA LLC presents the new P6011 series inserts for drilling steels and cast irons with the D4140 and D4240 drill bodies. The P6011 Exchangeable Drill Inserts are made of the WPP25 grade, which features a fine-grained carbide substrate and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating deposited via HiPIMS (high-power impulse magnetron sputtering) for a high level of wear resistance and maximum tool life.
A gold-colored ZrN (zirconium nitride) top layer coating provides the best wear detection. The inserts have an optimized geometry for enhanced centering properties and a corner protection.
The primary application for the P6011 Exchangeable Drill Inserts, which will be replacing the older P6001 series inserts, is drilling high-strength steels with a hardness up to 43 Rc (ISO P material group). The secondary application is drilling cast iron (ISO K material group). The insert is designed to work in tool bodies up to 7 × D without pilot drilling.
