Vollmer of America (Carnegie, PA) installed the first QXD200 machine in North America at Big Sky EDM in Hayden Lake, ID. This machine provides state-of-the-art finishing for PCD tools, combining rotary erosion and grinding for complete processing of helical tools in a single-machine setup.
Six programmable axes allow for continued innovation in tool design, while the six-position tool changer allows for flexibility in electrodes and polishing wheel selections that can be utilized in unattended operation. Vollmer continues to incorporate simplified programming for ease of training, and its modular design allows for several automation options to be incorporated as tool demand dictates.
