New Tool for Efficient and Reliable Deburring of Small Bores

HEULE introduces the DL2 – a small, robust, reliable mechanical deburring tool for 1.00 mm to 2.1 mm bores in a wide range of materials including steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, composites and more.

The DL2 tool must be used in counterclockwise rotation and can be used for front and back deburring, or back only deburring. Throughout the entire machining process, neither a change in the direction of rotation nor a stopping of the spindle is necessary. The tool cutting edge is positioned in rapid feed above the front of the hole to be deburred.

HEULE, a world leader in tool development, introduces the DL2 – a small, robust, reliable mechanical deburring tool for 1.00mm to 2.1mm bores in a wide range of materials including steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, composites, and more. Designed for CNC operation, it ensures high efficiency and process reliability on even and slightly uneven bore edges. With simple but robust construction of just 4 components, the carbide blade is integrated into the spring to form a single unit. This ensures proper spring tension for the guiding and cutting forces of the blade and makes it easy to change blades without tweezers or a magnifying glass. The DL2 uses smart tool concept with internal blade cooling. Coolant is supplied through the tool and guided directly to the cutting edge of the carbide blade, ensuing optimal performance and process safety during high-volume operations. New DL2 tooling is ideal for deburring watch cases, medical and surgical components, and other precision micro machining applications.

Heule DL2 tooling is available for bores from 1mm to 2.1 mm with a maximum deburring capacity of 0.15 to 0.20 mm, with common sizes available from stock.

How it Works

The DL2 tool must be used in counterclockwise rotation and can be used for front and back deburring, or back only deburring. Throughout the entire machining process, neither a change in the direction of rotation nor a stopping of the spindle is necessary. The tool cutting edge is positioned in rapid feed above the front of the hole to be deburred.

At working feed, the edge is deburred on the front edge of the hole until the blade has fully retracted. In rapid /increased feed, the tool passes through the workpiece without damaging the surface.

Position the blade 0.5mm deeper than the existing burr to safely reach the new starting position. In working feed, the hole on the underside of the workpiece is deburred. The blade should travel 0.5mm further than the deburring size. Move out of the workpiece in rapid feed and move to the next hole.
