The Copilot Builder eliminates the need for a fixed table setup, providing essential components mounted on a portable pallet that are ready to be removed and placed within the welding environment. Unlike traditional setups, the Builder’s game-changing modular design allows users to detach and reconfigure components, including the welding arm and wire drive, to fit their specific workspace and product flow requirements.

Miller Electric Mfg. LLC, a leading worldwide manufacturer of Miller® brand arc welding equipment, announces the release of the Copilot™ Builder™, the newest addition to its line of collaborative robotic welding systems. Designed to address unique welding challenges with flexibility, the Copilot Builder expands on the innovative features of the original Copilot system, delivering a versatile solution that is portable, reconfigurable and ready to tackle diverse welding needs.

Optional cable lengths further enhance flexibility, enabling welding operations in challenging environments while maintaining high performance and efficiency.

The Builder also incorporates proven Miller technologies, such as touch sensing and through-the-arc seam tracking features. Touch sensing uses voltage sensing to detect workpiece location and ensure accurate weld placement, while seam tracking adjusts torch position in real time to maintain consistent weld quality. Additionally, the inclusion of Multipass software allows operators to easily program, save and subsequently recall weld passes that can then be combined to create weld recipes to properly root, fill and cap large weld joints of varying sizes. This is especially important if the weld joint thickness is greater than what can be effectively welded in a single pass. These features, paired with the Builder’s customizable design, ensure the system can accommodate even the most complex welding projects with efficiency and reliability.

Since its launch in 2023, the Copilot system has transformed how operations approach welding automation by offering intuitive, welder-friendly solutions for operators of all capabilities that are easy to integrate and can enhance productivity with a swift ROI. The Copilot Builder takes this innovation to the next level with its customizable system that grows with an operation’s needs. By offering unmatched flexibility and adaptability, the Builder empowers welders to achieve new levels of performance and capability.

Additional features included on the Copilot Builder:

  • AccuGuide™ positioning control: The precision joystick helps fine-tune the position of the torch during programming.
  • IntelliSet™ Weld Settings Assistant: This intuitive interface recommends weld settings based on material, process and joint type, allowing operators to build programs with confidence for repeatable, high-quality welds.
  • Auto Deltaweld® power source: Provides reliable, high-quality welds with a streamlined, headless design that simplifies operation and enhances automation efficiency.
