MC Machinery Systems, Inc. (Wood Dale, IL) announces that Michael Burns has been named the national sales manager for waterjet. Responsibilities will include working directly with the regional managers and dealers across North America, working internally with product development, as well as marketing and sales to increase market share.

Burns has most recently served as president of TECHNI Waterjet (Lenexa, KS), having held the position since 2007. He had started with the company as national sales manager in 2003 and became general manager in 2005. Prior to 2003, his career with Ingersoll-Rand (Farmington Hills, MI) spanned more than 20 years. He served in various engineering, account management and sales capacities in both waterjet and kinetic automation realms, culminating as the director of advanced engineering for kinetic automation in 2000.

“I’m excited to be joining the Mitsubishi family,” says Burns. “I’ve been working in and around waterjet technology for most of my adult and professional life, and I look forward to joining a team with this reach and reputation.” He earned his masters of business administration from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) in 1996, and bachelor of mechanical engineering from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., in 1989.

“Michael possesses a rare combination of experience and education that will allow him to come right in and hit the ground running,” says Nick Giannotte, the vice president of EDM, milling, and waterjet. “We’re happy to welcome him to the team.” www.mitsubishi-world.com
