Michigan Governor Signs Energy Package at Dowding Industries’ New Machining Facility
Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm (second from left) recognized Dowding Industries‘ contribution to the state’s renewable energy initiative by choosing the company’s new 35,000-sq-ft large-part machining facility in Eaton Rapids as the venue for signing a new three-bill energy package in early October. Dowding is leading Michigan industries in the transition to alternative energy with the new facility, equipped with three huge machine tools from MAG Industrial Automation Systems to meet the needs of power generation, pump and valve, aerospace and off-road equipment manufacturers. Granholm posed for a photo with Dowding representatives in front of the company’s latest acquisition from MAG Giddings & Lewis, a twin-pallet HMC 1250, currently being installed.
“This comprehensive package will create tens of thousands of new energy jobs by making Michigan even more attractive to job-creating companies that are looking for a place to expand as they meet the growing demand for energy from renewable resources like wind and solar power,” said Granholm. The new Dowding facility will create more than 350 new jobs in Michigan.
