METAL-CORED WIRES FOR HIGH-STRENGTH, LOW ALLOY STEEL
Hobart Brothers (Troy, OH) offers two gas-shielded metal-cored welding wires designed to improve weld quality and reduce downtime on high-strength, low alloy steel welding applications. Compared to equivalent ER80S-D2 solid welding wires, Tri-Mark® Metalloy® Vantage? D2 and Tri-Mark Metalloy 80D2 wires provide higher deposition rates, better wet-in and faster travel speeds for greater productivity. Both also provide the necessary mechanical properties to match the challenging needs of heavy equipment manufacturing and structural parts applications.
The Metalloy Vantage D2 welding wire produces weld toe lines almost completely free of silicon deposits and with little to no spatter, reducing time spent for parts preparation and minimizing post-weld cleanup prior to painting or coating. The wire is especially well suited for single pass fillet welds, and when used with higher content Argon shielding gas blends (e.g. 90 percent Ar/10 percent CO2), Metalloy Vantage D2 provides excellent wet-in and virtually no spatter. The wire is available in .045 in and .052 in wire diameters.
The Metalloy 80D2 metal-cored welding wire is particularly well suited for multi-pass welding and can be used proficiently on multiple types of weld joints and materials. Like the Metalloy Vantage D2, this wire provides excellent mechanical properties, especially when used with Argon-rich (90 percent Ar/10 percent CO2) shielding gas mixtures. The Metalloy 80D2 also provides good wet-in and low spatter levels compared to equivalent solid wires, and is available in .045 in, .052 in and 1/16 in wire diameters.
