Mazak Showcases Speed and Precision Machining at PRI 2025
At this year’s Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show from December 11-13 in Indianapolis, Ind., Mazak will demonstrate two automation-ready machines designed with motorsports part production in mind. These Mazak PRI 2025 machines include the QTE-200 MSY CNC Turning Center, which has a built-in motor spindle for high-speed, high-accuracy machining. In addition, the SYNCREX 38/8 Swiss-type Turning Machine offers fast production of small, precise components.
“Mazak has stood alongside the racing community for decades,” said Dan Janka, President of Mazak. “At PRI 2025, we continue our tradition of helping race teams and suppliers push the limits of what’s possible by providing advanced manufacturing technologies that fuel performance and precision at every level of competition.”
Built for speed, precision, and reliability, Mazak’s QTE-200MSY Turning Center delivers performance-driven machining capabilities that race engineers depend on for high-quality components under demanding timelines. The machine’s integral 20 hp (15 kW) turning spindle reaches 5,000 rpm. It processes part diameters up to 13.39” (340 mm). The bar diameter capacity is 2.56” (65 mm), enabling a broad range of motorsports applications.
The machine accommodates workpieces up to 22.6” (574 mm) in length. Feed axes measure 8.46” (215 mm) in X, 3.94” (100 mm) in Y and 23.8” (605 mm) in Z. LM guides on all axes support long-term accuracy and repeatability. Additionally, the rotary tool turret spindle provides 7.38 hp (5.5 kW) milling with a maximum speed of 4,500 rpm and a 12-tool capacity.
The QTE-200MSY has a 10 hp (7.5 kW) second spindle capable of 6,000 rpm with a 6” chuck to allow for a DONE-IN-ONEÒ process. Moreover, the headstock design eliminates belts and pulleys, which reduces maintenance and improves part quality. As a result, the construction minimizes vibration and produces high-accuracy machining with exceptional surface finishes.
The QTE-200MSY includes the MAZATROL SmoothEz CNC with MAZATROL conversational programming and G-code capabilities. Operators simply bring the tool tip in contact with the machine’s Automatic Tool Eye. Then, the system records tool nose offset, measurement and data registration to ensure accuracy and reduce setup time.
For high-volume production of small motorsports parts, the SYNCREX 38/8 Swiss-style machine is built on Mazak’s High Damping Composite Casting (HDCC). This high-rigidity base enhances vibration damping and reduces thermal growth. It also extends tool life and improves part surface capabilities compared to cast iron. Therefore, shops achieve consistent performance and improved part quality.
The SYNCREX 38/8 handles bar stock up to 1.5” (38 mm), allowing shops to run full bar capacity without special bar end preparation. The 8-axis configuration is standard with 10 hp (7.5 kW) main and second spindles. It includes four cross working live tools on the main spindle as well as up to six live tools with a Y-axis for the counter spindle.
The SYNCREX 38/8 features 36 tool positions. The removable guide bushing adapter enables operators to preset the guide bushing outside the machine. Furthermore, the machine is considered “convertible” because it can change over to run in chucker or non-guide bushing mode. This flexibility helps shops run shorter, non-traditional parts that normally require a fixed headstock lathe. It also increases overall shop output. These capabilities strengthen the appeal of Mazak PRI 2025 machines for motorsports suppliers.
The SYNCREX 38/8 includes the new MAZATROL SmoothSt control with a full mechanical keyboard. Additionally, the optional Mazak Swiss Setup Assist (MSSA) provides fast, easy job-setup capabilities. The optional Mazak Dynamic Chip Control (MDCC) functionality increases chip-management performance.
“Racing drives innovation and advances performance with precision and purpose,” added Janka. “Principles that mirror Mazak’s own pursuit of manufacturing excellence.”
Every Mazak machine, including those shown at PRI 2025, is backed by Mazak MPower Complete Customer Care, which is the industry’s most comprehensive machine support program. Finally, Mazak Capital Equipment Financing (MCEF) allows shops to move their manufacturing forward with one-stop, factory-direct financing on Mazak equipment.
