DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK, to be held in Phoenix in April, will feature the VC-Ez 26 Vertical Machining Center.

Mazak Corporation will host its inaugural DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK Phoenix Open House from April 28–29 at the Mazak Phoenix Technical Center. The event will feature live cutting demonstrations on a wide range of advanced machining technology, including Swiss-type production turning, Multi-Tasking, 5-axis and Kentucky-built vertical machining, as well as next-generation horizontal machining. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with industry experts to discuss the latest manufacturing innovations and insights.

“This new Technical Center will support all manufacturers in the greater Phoenix Valley area,” said Tony Harrod, Regional Manager of the Mazak Phoenix Technical Center. “Whether those customers are in the semiconductor, aerospace and defense, electric vehicle or medical device industries, Mazak is well entrenched in every major industry in terms of experience and application knowhow.”

Located at 2675 West Buckeye Rd. in Phoenix, Ariz., the recently opened technical center provides service and support for manufacturers throughout the Western United States. The facility houses a call center, applications engineers, and sales and service support personnel. It also offers customer programming classes, machine demonstrations, test cuts and machining system run-offs. The Phoenix center will also host DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK technology and education events such as the upcoming April open house.

“With the addition of the Phoenix Technical Center, we continue to strengthen our regional network of both Technology Centers and Technical Centers,” said Dan Janka, President of Mazak Corp. “Service and support is paramount at Mazak, and these facilities play key roles in providing our customers with fast and easy access to the latest machine tool technologies and automation as well as to the training and learning opportunities that will ensure success and help them grow their businesses.”

Manufacturers attending the event will see the SYNCREX 38/9 Swiss-type Production Turning Machine in action. Designed for high-volume production of small, precise parts, the SYNCREX 38/9 is built on Mazak’s High Damping Composite Casting (HDCC). The high-rigidity base delivers improved vibration damping, reduced thermal growth, longer tool life and enhanced surface finish compared to traditional cast-iron base machines.

The SYNCREX 38/9 handles bar stock up to 1.5” (38 mm) and allows shops to run full bar capacity without special bar-end preparation. The machine’s standard 9-axis configuration includes 10 HP (7.5 kW) main and second spindles, four cross-working live tools on the main spindle, and a 9,000-rpm B-axis tool spindle, along with up to six live tools and a Y-axis for the counter spindle. Total machine capacity includes 39 tool positions.

Mazak will also showcase the INTEGREX i-200H ST Multi-Tasking Center to demonstrate part-processing agility with the power of a full CNC turning center and the versatility of a full-function machining center. Designed for DONE IN ONE® machining, the INTEGREX i-200H ST features a second turning spindle along with a milling spindle and lower turret with optional rotary tool capabilities. This configuration increases productivity with minimal fixturing, less part handling and reduced non-cut time. The main spindle incorporates an 8” chuck and delivers speeds up to 5,000 rpm from a 30 HP (22 kW) spindle motor. Maximum machining diameter is 23.62” (600 mm), and the spindle bore accommodates bar stock diameters up to 2.05” (52 mm), with an optional 2.6” (66 mm) capacity.

Another multi-tasking machining option on display will be the QUICK TURN 350MY. This turning center highlights part-processing versatility with a maximum machining diameter of 17” (431.8 mm) and a maximum workpiece length of 81.09” (2060 mm) for the 80” bed length version. The machine has a bar diameter capacity of 4” (102 mm) and features a 12” chuck driven by a 40 HP (30 kW) motor that provides spindle speeds up to 4,000 rpm. The 10 HP (7.4 kW) rotary tool turret spindle reaches speeds up to 6,000 rpm and offers 12 tool positions.

For automated operation, Mazak pairs the QUICK TURN 350MY with the Mazak Ez LOADER 30. This system uses a cobot with a 30 kg load capacity and pendant timeline programming for multiple pallet loading and unloading tasks. Integrated vision technology enables shops to relocate and reposition the loader without needing to realign the cobot to the machine.

For manufacturers exploring 5-axis machining, the VARIAXIS C-600 will also be featured at the event. The machine offers four spindle options to balance speed and power, including the standard 12,000 rpm CAT40 spindle and optional 15,000 rpm, 18,000 rpm and 20,000 rpm spindles available in CAT40, Big Plus or HSK A-63 configurations. The featured HSK A-63 High Torque 15,000 rpm spindle delivers motor output of 46/37 kW (40% ED/cont.) and torque of 200/131 Nm (40% ED/cont.), making it ideal for machining nickel alloys, steel, cast iron and aluminum. Tool magazine capacities include 30, 60, 90 or 120 tools.

For reliable machine tool performance with lower capital investment, the event will feature the VC-Ez 26 Vertical Machining Center equipped with a 12,000 rpm spindle and optional MAZATROL SmoothG CNC. This control supports both EIA/ISO G-code and conversational programming while including machine simulation and 3D assist functions.

The Kentucky-built VC-Ez 26 also features Mazak’s tool-changeable 60,000 rpm UltraSpindle. Controlled through standard program codes for rpm and tool changes, the UltraSpindle enables finishing with small-diameter cutters at high feedrates as well as aggressive roughing with the standard spindle. The UltraSpindle is available in both 60,000 and 80,000 rpm models.

As part of the Ez Series lineup, the VC-Ez 26 emphasizes simple operation, fast installation, ergonomic access and stable machining performance. The machine accommodates workpieces up to 55.12” (1400 mm) long, 24.02” (610 mm) wide and 22.4” (569 mm) tall, weighing up to 3,306 lbs (1500 kg), while maintaining a compact footprint of just 113.8 sq ft (10.57 m²).

To maximize productivity, attendees will also see the next-generation HCN-4000 NEO horizontal machining center in action. The machine features a standard 18,000 rpm spindle for general machining, with optional 15,000 rpm, 20,000 rpm and 25,000 rpm spindles for heavy-duty machining, aluminum processing or high-efficiency operations. A standard 40-tool magazine supports extended machining cycles, while optional magazines provide capacities of 60, 80, 120 or 160 tools. Mazak also offers a TOOL HIVE system capable of holding up to 240 or 348 tools.

All Mazak machines showcased at the Phoenix Technical Center event are backed by Mazak MPower Complete Customer Care, a comprehensive support program. Additionally, Mazak Capital Equipment Financing (MCEF) provides factory-direct financing options that help manufacturers invest in advanced machining technology.
