Mazak Open House Brings Innovation to Florida Manufacturing Production
Mazak Corporation will showcase the latest manufacturing and automation technology during its Mazak Florida Open House, a two-day event focused on aerospace, medical, space exploration, defense and marine defense component production. The event takes place February 18–19 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Mazak Technical Center in Orlando, Florida.
The Mazak Florida Open House will feature a variety of machines and automation solutions processing real-world parts, while providing attendees direct access to Mazak applications engineers for expert manufacturing guidance. Live demonstrations are designed to highlight practical production capabilities across multiple industries.
Demonstrations will include Mazak’s QTE-100MY Multi-Tasking Machine equipped with bar feeder automation, the VARIAXIS C-600 Vertical Machining Center and the SYNCREX 12/8 Swiss-style Production Turning machine. The QTE-100MY combines milling capability and Y-axis off-centerline machining to support both turning and milling operations. The VARIAXIS C-600 enables multi-surface and full simultaneous 5-axis machining, while the SYNCREX 12/8 is designed for producing small, extremely high-precision parts.
Mazak’s QTE-100MY features an integral turning spindle with speeds up to 6,000 rpm and accommodates part diameters up to 13.39 inches (340 mm), with a bar capacity of 2 inches (50.8 mm). A rotary tool turret spindle further enhances performance, offering a 4,500-rpm milling spindle with 7.38 hp (5.5 kW) and a 12-tool capacity.
As an accessible entry point into 5-axis machining, the VARIAXIS C-600 offers four spindle options to balance speed and power. In addition to the standard 12,000 rpm CAT40 spindle, optional 15,000 rpm, 18,000 rpm and 20,000 rpm configurations are available in CAT 40, Big Plus or HSK A-63. Tool magazine options include 30-, 60-, 90- and 120-tool capacities, as well as random-access magazine designs that reduce tool change wait times and support short machining cycles.
For high-volume production of small, high-precision components, Mazak’s SYNCREX 12/8 will demonstrate Swiss-style Production Turning on an eight-axis platform. The machine handles maximum turning diameters of 0.4724 inches (12 mm) and supports up to 27 tools, including 19 static and eight live tools. The system is powered by the MAZATROL SmoothSt CNC, which incorporates Swiss Setup Assist for simplified setups and Dynamic Chip Control functionality to enhance process stability. Additional CNC features include tool touch-off, part cut-off, retract point and start position functions, along with synchronous axis control for simultaneous turning, drilling and rigid tapping.
