MAUSER GROUP ENTERS U.S. STEEL DRUM RECONDITIONING MARKET
The Mauser Group announced the takeover of the business of American Container Net, Inc. (ACN) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Strawser Steel Drum of Ohio, Ltd. (SSD). ACN is a recognized national player in the North American steel drum reconditioning industry.
Supporting the Group’s global sustainability initiative, this transaction will also enhance the growth strategy of National Container Group (NCG), the Mauser subsidiary for reusable container solutions in the U.S. and Europe. ACN and SSD are well-established suppliers of new and reconditioned steel drums in the North American markets. ACN is a leading reconditioner of steel drums with production facilities in Pittsburgh, PA; Providence, RI; as well as a distribution center in Richmond, VA. SSD is a manufacturer of new steel drums located in Columbus, OH.
Commenting on the significance of the takeover, Dr. Clemens Willée, CEO of the Mauser Group said, “The ACN/and SSD business opens up important business opportunities with attractive synergy potential to leverage the our market position. “ACN/SSD and NCG/MAUSER are a perfect fit,” added Peter Schaefer, global head of NCG, explaining that “both are renowned for their substantial expertise in the steel drum market and its recollection business.” Taking over the business of ACN/SSD allows the Mauser Group to enter the North American steel drum reconditioning market and will complement its existing product portfolio. The ACN/SSD product portfolio includes a wide range of products and services, from reconditioned open head steel drums and remanufactured closed head drums, to new steel drums, reconditioned washed steel drums, container disposition services, scrap steel and polyethylene sales, and hybrid steel drums (new shell, reco ring and cover).
