Loc Expands Via Acquisition

This investment of $96.5 million will create 700 jobs for machinists, metal fabrication, welding and more.

Loc Performance Products, Inc. (Plymouth, MI), a full-service manufacturer of large CNC machined components, fabricated structures and assemblies for military and industrial applications, acquired the operations of a Lansing, MI, plant of Demmer Corporation (Lansing, MI) in July 2017 and is now expanding into the Lansing market, creating new jobs and enhancing manufacturing capabilities to its customers in the defense and industrial markets.

This acquisition is expected to generate a total capital investment of $96.5 million and create 700 jobs, resulting in a $7 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant by the Michigan Strategic Fund. Approximately 500 of the 700 jobs will be created in the Lansing area and 200 others in Plymouth. “Immediate job openings are available for machinists, metal fabrication, welding, assembly, design and quality engineering, quality management, program and supply chain management,” said Lou Burr, the chief executive officer of Loc. “While pay for those jobs varies, people who take part in our apprenticeship program can earn about $25 per hour after three years.”

The Lansing area’s strong skilled manufacturing workforce is part of what drew the company to the city. Loc selected Michigan over competing sites in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The Lansing Economic Area Partnership plans to sponsor a job fair to assist in attracting talent for the new positions. Individuals interested in careers with Loc should click here.
