Lincoln Electric Appoints Director of Aluminum Welding Technology

The Lincoln Electric Company (Cleveland, OH) has appointed Frank Armao as the director of aluminum welding technology to use his 40 years of welding industry experience to provide industry leading direction, end-user customer support and applications engineering insight that create optimized aluminum welding solutions for customers.

Armao will collaborate closely with both the aluminum welding technology teams at the Cleveland headquarters and at the company subsidiary Indalco Alloys (Mississauga, ON),  a producer of high quality aluminum wire products.

One of the world’s leading experts in aluminum welding, Armao has been with Lincoln Electric for 13 years. Prior to assuming his new role, he served as the director of application engineering and country manager in Korea for the Asia Pacific business unit. Before joining Lincoln Electric in 1999, Armao served as a technical specialist for Alcoa, Inc. (Pittsburgh, PA) at its technical center, where he was responsible for the leadership of the arc welding group in its support of customers worldwide.

Armao earned his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in metallurgical engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He serves on the American Welding Society (AWS; Miami, FL) Welding Handbook Committee, and acts as the chairman of the AWS D1(G) Aluminum Subcommittee. He is also a member of their D1 Main Committee and the Aluminum Association Technical Advisory Panel on Welding and Joining.
