Kitamura Machinery, the premier manufacturer of horizontal, vertical and 5-axis machining centers, announced today that it is expanding its manufacturing facility in Takaoka City, Japan, to 208,000 square feet from 171,300 square feet to support the production of larger size, high performance Horizontal Machining Centers. Ground was broken May 14 for the expanded facility. Completion is planned for October, in time for Kitamura Machinery?s 75th anniversary in November.

The company?s decision to expand is the result of increased customer demand for larger size machining centers required globally by industries including aerospace, automotive and medical industries, along with growing sales opportunities in the heavy construction equipment and oil and gas industries.

Kitamura?s complete product line of next-generation machining centers enjoys a solid reputation for unparalleled precision, accuracy and rigidity. Combined, these traits result in higher productivity, fewer defects and greater market opportunities for manufacturers in a broad range of industries.

?A need to expand your primary facility reflects successful, satisfied customers and a machining center manufacturer which itself is expanding globally,? said Akihiro Kitamura, the company?s President. ?Today?s and tomorrow?s customers of our larger 630mm to 1250mm range machining centers can be assured that the same high quality manufacturing processes will be evident in our expanded production operation. We will be inviting all to visit our completed facility and join in our anniversary celebration later this year.?

Kitamura Machinery will be exhibiting at booth A-8054 at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) September 8-13, 2008 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
