Safety Mats

This category includes a category of presence sensing devices (PSDs) intended to be placed on a workplace floor, that stop a machine’s operation when a predetermined weight is applied to the mat. A manual reset switch is required to be located outside of the mat’s protected zone, so that machine operation may only continue when the weight is removed from the mat. The use of presence sensing mats is restricted to machines with operating cycles that can be stopped before an operator can reach into a hazard zone, such as hydraulic machines or machines with part-revolution clutches, rather than full-revolution. Presence sensing mats can guard entire perimeters of a work area, and are used as alternatives to light curtains in workplaces where optical sensing is limited.
