A steady increase in metal stamping and assembly business is driving the need for additional manufacturing capabilities, logistics and R&D as employment grows from 30 to 60 employees this year and another 100 next year.

IMS Buhrke-Olson (Arlington Heights, IL) recently announced a major expansion of its manufacturing plant in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. The addition to the Monterrey facility, which has been in operation since 2006, will increase total square footage from 42,000 to 142,000. The expansion was necessitated by a steady increase in metal stamping and assembly business performed at the site. Besides adding manufacturing capabilities the addition will also allow more space for logistics and R&D activities. Employment is expected to grow by 30 to 60 associates in 2011 and another 100 in 2012.

IMS Buhrke-Olson provides precision metal stampings and assemblies to customers in the automotive, appliance and electronics industries and is part of the IMS Companies LLC group of custom metalworking companies. The plant in Monterrey is one of two in Mexico. The second plant is located in Matamoros and has been in operation there since 1988. The combined manufacturing space of the Arlington Heights, Monterrey and Matamoros operations exceeds 350,000 sq ft. IMS Buhrke-Olson employs over 600 individuals and expects 2011 revenues to exceed $85 million.
