Hydro Aluminum Goes Live with Quintiq Strategic Planning Solution for European Supply Chain Optimization
Quintiq (Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands) and Hydro Aluminum (Oslo, Norway) have announced that Hydro Aluminum Rolled Products has gone live with the selected Quintiq solution to provide comprehensive strategic planning for its European aluminum rolled products supply chain.
The ?Quintiq Macro Planner? will be used primarily by Hydro Aluminum Rolled Product?s Sourcing and Planning Business Unit. This Business Unit is responsible for planning the entire supply chain, including their main sites in Norway, Germany, Spain , Italy and Malaysia and serving Hydro Aluminum?s customers worldwide.
With the Quintiq solution, Hydro Aluminum Rolled Products aims to gain full visibility and control of inventory across its many plants worldwide, improve delivery performance over its entire supply chain, and optimize utilization of its production facilities.
Hydro Aluminum will use the solution to create a five-year strategic plan and a one-year rolling plan, including a purchase plan. The purchase plan will facilitate negotiation of favorable contracts with suppliers. Overall, Hydro Aluminum anticipates it will see higher customer satisfaction due to better delivery performance, and higher profits due to reduced inventory costs, better capacity utilization and optimal supply agreements.
The Quintiq Macro Planner implementation is the fourth, and the most strategic planning-focused, project that Hydro Aluminum has ordered from Quintiq. Over the past few years, Hydro Aluminum has implemented Quintiq scheduling solutions at its aluminum rolling mill in Hamburg and in its foil division in Grevenbroich. Additionally, the Quintiq Company Planning solution is installed at Hydro Aluminum?s Litho site, also in Grevenbroich, Germany.
