HMC PERFECT FOR CYLINDER HEAD MACHINING
Haas Automation's ES-5-4T HMC is a compact and affordable horizontal machining center with generous 40 in x 18 in x 22 in (xyz) travels, and a VMC-style enclosure with good visibility and access. The machine features a full 4th-axis rotating table (40 in x 15 in) and a 24+1 tool side-mount tool changer. It is equipped with an 8000 rpm, 40-taper spindle that features an inline, direct-drive system that couples the motor directly to the spindle for better surface finishes, extreme thermal stability and quiet operation. A 20-hp vector dual-drive system with on-the-fly wye-delta switching yields plenty of low-end torque and a wide constant-power band. An optional 12,000-rpm spindle powered by a 30-hp vector dual-drive system is available.
Mounting a Haas rotary table to the ES-5-4T?s rotating T-slot table and adding a 5th-axis drive turns the machine into a 5-axis machining center that is perfect for such complex operations as cylinder head machining. The machine?s large work envelope and ample enclosure provide 40 in of swing to rotate large parts and fixtures.
