High Speed Metal or Plastic Marking with Superior Edge Quality

For high quality customized marking or engraving, the TruMark 5020 fiber laser marker from TRUMPF converts high pulse frequencies up to 1 MHz into high speeds for short marking processes.
Mounted inside a TruMark Station 5000, the highly dynamic scanner module of the TruMark 5020 from TRUMPF can convert pulse frequencies up to 1 MHz into a correspondingly high processing speed. Its Master Oscillator Fiber Power Amplifier adjusts the pulse duration to perfectly adapt laser processing to metal or plastic applications where high speed and superior edge quality are required. The laser’s focus point adjusts to different component heights. For safety, a fiber protection hose with a mechanical lock prevents the laser beam from discharging between two marking procedures. High pulse frequencies and superior pulse-to-pulse stability make the fast and flexible TruMark 5020 fiber laser marker from TRUMPF Inc. (Farmington, CT) ideal for metal or plastic applications where high speed and superior edge quality are required. Mounted inside a TruMark Station 5000, for example, the highly dynamic scanner module of the TruMark 5020 is able to convert pulse frequencies of up to 1 MHz into a correspondingly high processing speed. In turn, thanks to MOFPA technology (Master Oscillator Fiber Power Amplifier), the pulse duration can be adjusted so that laser processing is perfectly adapted to the application. In addition, the laser’s focus point adjusts to the different component heights. This system shows special strength in marking metal by delivering high quality customized marking or engraving in short processing times. Designed with a special focus on laser safety, it features a fiber protection hose with a mechanical lock to prevent the laser beam from discharging between two marking procedures.

In the modular design of the TruMark 5020, its scanner, laser head and power supply unit are connected via plug-in connectors so that the marking laser can be easily integrated into existing production systems. Telediagnostics makes it possible to maintain the fiber marking laser remotely with comfort and security. For this purpose, the TruMark 5020 comes with integrated laser power measurement and laser power calibration features that have been proven to maintain laser marking consistency.

TRUMPF also offers the TruMark 5050, a fiber marking laser with an adjustable pulse length that is flexible and able to process a diverse range of materials with impressive results. Mounted inside a TruMark Station 7000, the high beam quality and high average power make the TruMark 5050 the ideal laser for engravings. Short pulses enable very precise energy input for highly accurate marking while longer pulse durations increase the productivity of the system. It is also possible to increase productivity with an optional dual head system. Using two scanners, two parts can be processed simultaneously. Operating in the infrared range (1,062 nm) and with an adjustable pulse duration from 7 ns to 500 ns, the TruMark 5050 is able to cover a broad spectrum of diverse applications across many industries, including medical, electronics, automotive and precision machining. It economically processes conventional metals such as mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum and copper, and produces high-quality results when deep engraving these materials.

Its combination of high average power, differing pulse shapes and variable pulse duration also makes the TruMark 5050 attractive for micro-processing, for example, cutting films and foils. With a compact processing head and plug-and-play connections, it can be integrated into new and existing manufacturing systems without difficulty. The laser is also protected against dust and is water resistant, making it ideally suited for an industrial environment.
