GROB Systems, a global leader in the development of manufacturing systems and machine tools, has introduced the GP1350 5-Axis portal milling machining center. Designed for a wide variety of manufacturing tasks, including large components, complex geometries, and maximum precision, the GP1350 is unique to the market due to its compact size and exceptional versatility. The machine recently made its debut at GROB’s 100-year anniversary in-house exhibition at the company’s headquarters in Mindelheim, Germany.

The GP1350 offers a broad X-Y-Z working travel of 55 / 77 / 43 inches (1,400 / 1,950 / 1,100 millimeters) to accommodate large parts and performs reliably on components with a maximum workpiece diameter of 69 inches (1,750 millimeters) and a maximum workpiece height of 65 inches (1,650 millimeters) while supporting a maximum load of up to 3.6 tons. The tool magazine has capacity for up to 408 tools and a double row allocation allows ergonomic and efficient setup of several tools at the same time. With the option of integrating pallet changers, pallet storage systems and autonomous loading systems (AMR), the GP1350 machining center can be fully automated and is equally suitable for production processes ranging from single to multi-part series.

A combination of powerful spindles, a robust table and dynamic axis movements enable the GP1350 machining center to machine a wide variety of materials economically. The universal milling head with an undercut of -2.5 degrees significantly reduces setup times and saves valuable production time, while the compact design of 20 L x 18 W x 12 H feet (6,150 x 5,300 x 3,700 millimeters) allows manufacturing large parts with a minimal footprint.

“The GP1350 offers a practical way to machine large, complex parts in a compact, automation-ready platform. It allows manufacturers to expand capability without the space and integration challenges typically associated with portal milling systems,” said Derek Schroeder, Universal Machines, Sales & Proposals Manager, GROB Systems, Inc.

With its high load-bearing capacity, precise portal structure and automation options, the GP1350 machining center offers users stable processes, reduced scrap rates and high production reliability. The GP1350 is suitable for a wide range of industries such as tool, die and mold, energy technology, aerospace and the automotive industry.

2026 marks the 100-year anniversary of GROB. To celebrate, the company recently welcomed more than 4,000 visitors to its Mindelheim, Germany headquarters to experience the future of modern manufacturing. The in-house exhibition featured more than 40 machines, demonstrating GROB’s technological advancements over the past decades.
