Glebar Celebrates Startup of New Facility
Glebar Company (Ramsey, NJ) celebrated the full start-up of operations in Ramsey with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and open house at its new and fully integrated, state-of-the-art headquarters and manufacturing facility. The highly innovative manufacturing firm specializes in precision grinding systems, including centerless grinders, gauging systems, double disc grinders, and secondary process devices. Demand for its machine systems has increased dramatically over the past two years and employee headcount has grown by more than 65 percent over the same time period. Glebar machines operate in six continents with a significant footprint in Europe and Asia. Key markets include medical, metals, automotive, aerospace, consumer goods and mining.
In July, the company announced its move from Franklin Lakes, NJ, where it had occupied several locations for more than 60 years. “In the 1980s, New Jersey was home to over 110,000 manufacturing companies. Today, there are less than 14,000,” said Adam Cook, the chief executive officer of Glebar. “We believe in ‘Made in the USA’ and ‘Made in New Jersey’ and want to continue contributing to U.S domestic growth and the New Jersey economy. We have been in New Jersey for 63 years and we take immense pride in that. Today, we proudly open our doors to customers and our neighbors in Ramsey to celebrate our accomplishments and mark the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in our company history.”
“Our entire team has been working hard to expand our research and development department to more proactively serve customer needs, install network drops on all machines to leverage setup reduction programs and move from a pull-and-build assembly system to an efficient kitting operation,” added John Bannayan, the president of Glebar. “We have also created a leadership audit program that allows team leaders to audit all functional areas on a weekly basis to double-check safety requirements and ensure quality, on-time delivery, maintenance and efficiencies.”
The company has invested in new capital equipment and automation improvements for the new 44,560 sq ft facility, to maximize efficiency and increase capacity. Upgraded filtration and ventilation, more efficient power systems, and motion controlled LED lighting are some of the environmentally friendly features of the building.
The ribbon-cutting event brought together many of the company’s clients, partners and numerous invited guests, including the Office of U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi, Ramsey Town Councilmembers and members of the Ramsey Chamber of Commerce. Company management and guests delivered special remarks and participants were provided with a tour of the manufacturing facility, which is located at 565 East Crescent Avenue, Ramsey, in Bergen County, New Jersey.
