FlexArm Breaks Ground on New Facility

Their new $4 million state-of-the-art headquarters will house R&D, engineering, customer testing/runoff, manufacturing, and administration.
The ceremonial first shovel was turned over by FlexArm president Nick Kennedy, along with Congressman Jim Jordan, Representative Craig Riedel of the Ohio House of Representatives, City of Wapakoneta Mayor Thomas Stinebaugh, and the executive vice president of regional development for JobsOhio, Julie Sullivan.

FlexArm, Inc. (Wapakoneta, OH) broke ground on their new $4 million state-of-the-art headquarters on September 17 with festivities that included the ceremonial turning over of the first shovel, a press conference with a question-and-answer session, and refreshments for dignitaries and guests. In addition to company personnel, city and state officials, industry personnel and others attended the event, which took place at 705 Commerce Drive in Wapakoneta – the site of the new 53,000 sq ft facility.

FlexArm manufactures high precision tapping machines, die grinders, torque reaction arms and custom lifting systems, and FlexCNC manufactures CNC machine tools for fabrication and machine shops that contain open beds that can be sized between 10 ft to 80 ft long for long and large parts or multiple batches of components to be machined with a single set-up, saving time and money. The company was founded in 1984 by current president Nick Kennedy’s grandfather and will retain their current factory for warehousing and shipment of finished products and spare parts/service parts. This new facility will include R&D, engineering, customer testing/runoff, manufacturing, and administration for both the FlexArm and FlexCNC product lines.

“We’re really excited to begin construction of our new factory,” said Kennedy. “We’re growing like crazy, and we’ve got people shoe-horned into the current facility. This new space will enable us to continue our growth, both in sales volume and employees, while better serving new and existing customers.” By all accounts, FlexArm and FlexCNC are bucking many trends – they are a third-generation, family-owned and operated manufacturing business that is growing exponentially. Not only is this new facility expected to lead to more successes, it also will allow FlexCNC to become a $50 million product line within ten years. “We are excited to give back to the community by bringing more manufacturing and jobs to the area,” added Kennedy. “We really have a vibrant culture with a lot of teamwork. Virtually everyone is empowered to make decisions that will benefit the customer.”
