Long-lasting and Durable Abrasives Extend Wheel Life
In addition to yielding consistently high cut rates, advancements built into abrasives and grinding wheels lead to fewer replacements equaling greater uptime. What’s more, the products are ergonomically friendly, reducing vibrations and providing greater operator comfort.
Flap Discs Deburr, Blend and Finish Hard-to-Reach Areas
Saint-Gobain Abrasives (Worcester, MA), has expanded its Norton Vortex® Rapid Prep Non-Woven Flap Disc line with the introduction of 2” and 3” “Mini” sizes featuring Norton patented Vortex agglomerate grain, an industry-first that provides a practical solution from roughing to finishing in one operation for difficult-to-reach, uneven areas. The discs last longer while simultaneously producing significantly increased cutting rates and smear-free finishes. Norton Vortex agglomerated grain technology enables the cutting power of a coarser grit while producing a finer finish, in one abrasives disc solution.
Ideal for light blending, stripping, edge breaking and surface prep applications in key industries such as metal fabrication and welding, aerospace, transportation, energy and construction, Norton non-woven flap discs feature special three-dimensional non-woven abrasive layers. This design ensures uniform finishing with consistently low surface finish Ra. In addition, multiple layers of surface conditioning material provide added life, fewer disc changes for better efficiency, and reduced vibration. The discs are suitable for cleaning, light deburring and processing TIG welded seams on stainless steel.
Flap Disc: Grind Less and Weld More

As the abrasive industry contends with a skilled labor shortage and a highly competitive market, abrasive solutions that improve throughput and efficiency are critical. To help tackle those challenges, 3M (Maplewood, MN) has introduced the 3M Cubitron 3 Flap Disc 1169F, a cutting-edge advancement in abrasive technology.
The 1169F Flap Disc enhances productivity and operator comfort across a variety of applications. This disc helps deliver high cut rates, consistent wear, long life, and high material removal. It’s also easy to use, conformable to prevent gouging and results in finer finishes reducing downstream processing time.
The disc is constructed with a polyester backing and the re-engineered 3M Precision-Shaped Grain to provide a smoother operator experience and reduce hand-arm vibration compared to grinding wheels. These discs are available in both flat (T27) and conical (T29) shapes in grades 40+, 60+, and 80+ to address a wide variety of abrasive applications. The discs are ideal for medium to high-pressure applications such as weld removal, deburring, blending, finishing, refining, grinding, and surface preparation on metals like carbon steel and stainless steel.
Precision-shaped Grain Delivers Max Performance

Weiler Abrasives (Cresco, PA) offers the new Tiger 3D MAX Ceramic resin fiber discs, abrasive products built for superior cut rate and durability in even the toughest applications. This addition to the Tiger portfolio provides an optimized grinding solution for general metal fabrication and industries that require multi-pass welding, such as shipbuilding, pressure vessel and heavy equipment fabrication.
Using 3D precision-shaped grain, the discs deliver exceptional cut rate, durability and cool grinding for maximum productivity. The grain stands upright, allowing for effortless metal removal. Additionally, the design provides optimized grain retention, which extends disc life and reduces changeovers, saving operations time and money. The micro-fracturing technology and 3D shape make the work easier because less force is needed when grinding. The discs are designed to be used on steel, stainless steel, high-nickel alloys, armored steel, tool steel, Inconel and titanium.
These new resin fiber discs are available in two options: with a topcoat or without. A topcoat is recommended for stainless steel and other hard-to-grind metals as it reduces the grinding temperature, helping to protect parts from heat damage and discoloration. The uncoated option is best suited for carbon steel.
Ultra-thin Diamond Grinding and Cut-off Wheels

Innovative Products of America (Woodstock, NY) has expanded its BrushAll® line with the launch of ultra-thin Diamond Grinding and Cut-off Wheels, as well as a new Type-27 cut-off and grinding wheel. Engineered for exceptional durability, speed, and safety, these wheels are built to be the fastest cutting and longest lasting on the market.
Built with advanced core bonding technology, each wheel fully exposes its diamond particles for maximum cutting and grinding efficiency, while a reinforced steel core maintains shape, stability, and precision under heavy use.
Traditional abrasive wheels wear down quickly, lose diameter, and can shatter under stress. BrushAll Diamond Cut-off and Grinding Wheels solve these problems with a solid steel core that allows you to cut areas that you cannot access with traditional abrasives.
