FASTER DIE CHANGES WITH BREAKTHROUGH TECHNOLOGY

Dead Without SMED? Magnetic die clamping reduces die changes from 15 minutes to just three.

TCR Integrated Stamping Systems Inc., a total turnkey provider for the metalforming industry, helped BTD Manufacturing, Inc., achieve rapid die changeover rates by introducing them to a breakthrough technology called magnetic die clamping. BTD installed a two-press manufacturing cell to make a family of parts requiring rapid die changeover and short production runs.

Unlike conventional hydraulic clamps, magnetic die clamping has no moving parts on the press, significantly reducing maintenance. The technology is faster and requires less tooling preparation. Safety levels are also raised since operators do not have to enter the die area until the die is safely clamped. The magnetic clamps provided allowed BTD manufacturing to reduce die changes from 15 minutes to just three minutes.

BTD is ISO 9001:2000 certified and provides a broad range of capabilities including design, enhancement of existing designs, development of innovative manufacturing processes, stamping, fabrication, tubing, welding, machining, tooling, warehouse shipping and other value added services.
