Edwards Manufacturing Acquired by JPW Industries

This deal should help Edwards strengthen and expand their position in existing and new markets.

Edwards Manufacturing Company (Albert Lea, MN), headquartered in Albert Lea, MN, announced they have reached an agreement to be acquired by JPW Industries, Inc.® (La Vergne, TN), a leading global designer, marketer and distributor of branded metalworking and woodworking equipment and specialty shop tools sold under the JET®, Powermatic®, Wilton® and Promac® brand names.

In addition to its La Vergne headquarters, JPW has operations in Europe and Asia and sells through a vast network of distributor partners worldwide. “Joining forces with them will enable us to leverage our respected brand, innovative product designs and highly skilled employees,” stated Alexis Friend, the president of Edwards. “With their professional sales and marketing capabilities, we expect to significantly strengthen and expand our position in existing and new markets.”

Edwards Manufacturing was founded in America in 1875 by Charles Douglas Edwards and has been owned by the Hanson family since 1953. The company manufactures industrial ironworkers, hydraulic accessory tools, ironworker tooling, punches and dies, and specialty tools, including the innovative, portable, hydraulic Edwards Strut Pro. These products are proudly ‘Made in America’ and broadly distributed through metalworking dealers in North America and worldwide.

“In Edwards Manufacturing, we have acquired a strong brand, outstanding ‘American Made’ products and a skilled workforce,” said Robert Romano, the chief executive officer of JPW. “We will maintain their Midwestern manufacturing facility in Albert Lea. When combined with our sales and marketing reach, we expect to significantly expand their presence in their core markets and beyond.
