Durable, Heavy-Duty MIG Guns

Tweco Classic MIG guns from Victor Technologies include higher impact resistant materials, an interlocking handle design for superior toughness, an angled trigger for a more comfortable pull and refined, modernized lines.
For operators who want the familiar feel of a paddle-style, industrial-grade MIG gun, the new Tweco Classic 4 is an enhanced version of the original Tweco Number 4.

Victor Technologies (St. Louis, MO) launched a full series of Tweco® Classic MIG guns. An enhancement of the legendary Tweco numbered series, the new Tweco Classic guns include higher impact resistant materials, an interlocking handle design for superior toughness, an angled trigger for a more comfortable pull and refined, modernized lines.

“I like the Tweco Classic handle because it’s flatter,” says Jeremy Holloway, a welder/fitter with Bellingham Metal Works (Bellingham, MA). “With skinny handles you have to squeeze a lot more – it puts a lot of stress on your hand. This gun is nice because you barely have to move your finger to pull the trigger.”

BMW project manager Robert Stow, Jr. also likes the heavy-duty construction of these MIG guns. “The Tweco guns are excellent for our shop,” says Stow.“Our guys are pretty rough on the equipment, and Tweco guns stand up. They’re very durable. I’m only going to make money in this company if we’re producing parts.”

Project Manager Robert Stow, Jr. of Bellingham Metal Works explains why their shop likes the heavy-duty construction of these MIG guns.

In addition to the Tweco Classic 4 MIG gun introduced earlier this year, additional new air-cooled guns include the Tweco Classic No. 1 (rated at 180 amps @ 60 percent duty cycle), Tweco Classic No. 2 (rated at 200 amps @ 60 percent duty cycle), the Tweco Classic No. 3 (300 amps @ 60 percent duty cycle), the Tweco Classic No. 5 (500 amps @ 60 percent duty cycle) and the Tweco Classic No. 6 (600 amps @ 60 percent duty cycle).

“The Tweco Classic Series will carry on the tradition of the Tweco No. Series platform, which has which has built a strong bond with end users since its introduction  at the AWS Welding Show in 1969,” says David Wilton, the vice president of brand management for welding products at Victor Technologies. “Millions of welders will be familiar with the way the paddle-style handle of a Tweco Classic gun fits in their hand and enables them to manipulate the arc. With these upgrades, they’ll be able to enjoy its heavy-duty, industrial-grade performance for years to come.”

Founded in 1936, Tweco is a leader in the design and manufacture of MIG welding guns and consumable parts for both manual and precision robotic welding applications. Additionally, Tweco provides specialty welding power sources and a comprehensive range of leading arc welding accessories, including electrode holders, ground clamps, lugs, cable connectors, switchable magnetic products and safety product line.

Headquartered in St. Louis, Victor Technologies provides superior solutions for cutting, gas control and specialty welding equipment under brand names that include Victor®, Victor®Thermal Dynamics®, Victor®Arcair®, Victor®TurboTorch®, Tweco®, Thermal Arc®, Stoody®, Firepower® and Cigweld®.
