New Lithium-ion Battery Charging and Storage Cabinets
DENIOS asecos energy storage cabinets introduce the third generation of cabinets specifically engineered for storing, or charging and storing, lithium-ion batteries. Available in one- or two-door models, these cabinets are designed to reduce fire risk and protect facilities handling lithium-ion technology.
Each cabinet features insulated shelves that help slow the spread of fire between storage levels during a lithium-ion battery incident. The shelf design aligns with asecos’ safety philosophy of allowing an event to burn itself out while limiting internal escalation. This approach supports waste heat dissipation and enables rapid smoke detection within the cabinet.
When paired with an optional fire alarm connected to a facility’s alarm system, the cabinet quickly notifies teams if smoke, heat or fire is detected. An optional fire suppression system is also available. With 90 minutes of fire resistance from outside to inside (type 90 / type tested in accordance with EN 14470-1) and more than 90 minutes of fire resistance from inside to outside, these purpose-built cabinets help protect against hazards caused by thermal runaway, deep discharge, mechanical deformation or chemical reaction. A range of configurations makes them suitable for manufacturers, dealers and distributors incorporating lithium-ion batteries into their products, as well as facilities using them.
All units feature solidly welded construction for long service life. Powder-coated sheet metal increases corrosion protection while enhancing scratch and impact resistance and providing an easy-to-clean surface. Cabinets incorporate a tested, liquid-tight spill sump to manage battery leaks that may catch fire.
Each fireproof lithium-ion battery storage cabinet includes self-closing, lockable doors and high-quality oil-damped door closers for added safety. A transport base with integrated forklift pockets enables rapid relocation in the event of an incident. Once positioned outside at a safe location, rescue personnel can assess and determine further measures if needed.
