David Butler joins Nickel Institute as Executive Director and General Counsel

David joins the Nickel Institute from Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP where he was a Partner advising Fortune 500 clients, private companies and trade associations.

The Nickel Institute (Toronto, Canada) announces the appointment of David Butler as executive director and general counsel. David is based in the Nickel Institute’s Toronto office.

David joins the Nickel Institute from Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP where he was a Partner advising Fortune 500 clients, private companies and trade associations.

His specialities are Antitrust/competition Law; Business Transactions; Corporate Law; Distribution and Supply Chain; and Public Policy and Regulatory Issues. In this role, David was also the Nickel Institute’s corporate secretary. He will continue to serve as Corporate Secretary as part of his new responsibilities.

He has been instrumental in the development of the Nickel Institute during his long tenure as external Legal Counsel and Corporate Secretary. He brings extensive legal experience and knowledge of the nickel sector to the Institute and I am looking forward to working closely with him to develop further the Nickel Institute’s service to its Members and the nickel industry.”

David Butler is a graduate in economics from McGill University; in Law from the University of Toronto and is a member of the Ontario Bar in Canada. He has a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent (TM) Lawyer Rating – the highest rating available – and was named as a top Canadian Lawyer in 2012 by the Lawyers Weekly’s “In House Counsel Magazine”. David is a member of a variety of professional associations and is an active community volunteer.
