The WTX-UNI solid carbide drill is built from CERATIZIT’s CT-GS20Y upGRADE carbide, the company’s most sustainable substrate to date, and made from 99% recycled raw materials. Its patented end geometry, with a convex cutting edge and a 140-degree point angle, ensures excellent self-centering and tool stability.

CERATIZIT introduced its new WTX-UNI and WTX-Deep UNI solid carbide drills, offering a universal solution for shops that need performance, flexibility, and sustainability across a wide range of materials. Designed to simplify tool selection, the WTX-UNI drill range delivers precise and reliable drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened steels up to 54 Hardness Rockwell C. By reducing the number of tools required for multiple applications, manufacturers can streamline inventory, minimize tool changes, and improve overall machining efficiency.

“For shops working with a variety of metals on a regular basis, the WTX-UNI makes everyone’s job easier,” says Troy Wilt, Managing Director of CERATIZIT USA, Cutting Tools Division. “The drill range reduces inventory quantities while also delivering reliable cutting results.”

Innovative Geometry and Sustainable Construction
The WTX-UNI solid carbide drill is built from CERATIZIT’s CT-GS20Y upGRADE carbide, the company’s most sustainable substrate to date, made from 99% recycled raw materials. Its patented end geometry features a convex cutting edge and a 140-degree point angle for excellent self-centering and tool stability. Combined with a modern DPA74S coating and optimized flute design, the drill ensures efficient chip evacuation, reduced risk of jamming, and exceptional tool life.

The new CERATIZIT WTX-UNI drill range delivers reliable precision drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened steels up to 54 Hardness Rockwell C. In this image, the drill cuts through three levels.

Available in diameters from 3 mm to 20 mm, the WTX-UNI can be supplied in 3xD and 5xD lengths with or without coolant and in multiple shank styles. For greater stability, the WTX-Quattro version adds four guide lands and is offered in 5xD, 8xD, and 12xD configurations. The 8xD and 12xD designs feature a modified 135-degree point angle, enabling superior performance for deeper drilling applications.

WTX-Deep UNI Extends Capabilities to 50xD
For manufacturers requiring extreme hole depths, the WTX-Deep UNI extends drilling capabilities up to 50xD. Its redesigned geometry, polished chip spaces, and four guide lands ensure process reliability, high drilling accuracy, and minimal hole deviation. Coated with CERATIZIT’s DPX74-M high-performance layer, the drill maintains exceptional wear resistance under demanding conditions. The WTX-Deep UNI is available in diameters from 3 to 14 mm (or 3 to 8 mm in inch sizes) and stocked for the North American market.

Sustainability and Reusability
Environmental responsibility is central to the WTX range. Using recycled carbide significantly reduces the carbon footprint, while each drill can be reground and recoated to its original specification—extending tool life and conserving resources.
