The association’s executive committee votes for the chief executive officer of Tri-Arrows Aluminum to be its new chairman.

Patrick M. (Pat) Franc, the president and chief executive officer of Tri-Arrows Aluminum, Inc. (Louisville, KY), recently assumed the vacant position of chairman of the Aluminum Association (Arlington, VA) through the Fall of 2013, per a vote of the association’s executive committee.

The Aluminum Association works globally to aggressively promote aluminum as the most sustainable and recyclable automotive, packaging and construction material in today’s market. It represents U.S. and foreign-based primary producers of aluminum, aluminum recyclers and producers of fabricated products, as well as industry suppliers. Member companies operate more than 200 plants in the United States, with many conducting business worldwide.

“Pat has extensive leadership experience within our association,” said the Aluminum Association president, Heidi Brock. “His broad knowledge of the industry and our Association will be invaluable as we seek to promote aluminum as the most sustainable material for fuel-efficient transportation, green building products and consumer packaging.”

Franc joined Tri-Arrows Aluminum (formerly known as ARCO Aluminum) in March 2002 as president. Previously, he had held various global leadership positions with BP in the firm’s various commodity and specialty thermoplastics businesses.

Tri-Arrows Aluminum has been a leader in the aluminum can sheet metal manufacturing industry for over 25 years and specializes in 3000 and 5000 series alloys. The firm has a manufacturing joint venture, Logan Aluminum, Inc. (Russellville, KY), which recently received the inaugural 2012 Aluminum Mill Excellence award by American Metal Market.

Franc previously served as the chairman of the Association from 2006-2007. “I’m honored by the faith placed in me by my colleagues on the executive committee,” he said. “The Aluminum Association contributes significantly to the success of my company and the industry. I’m pleased to fill this role and offer my experience for the remainder of the term.”

Franc joins the association’s leadership team of vice chairman Layle “Kip” Smith, the president and chief executive officer of Noranda Aluminum, and the executive committee chairman Jean Simon, the president of Primary Metals for Rio Tinto Alcan.
