In order to get better cutting performances and guarantee a more economic production modern machining operations such as high speed cutting (HSC) or trochoidal milling are getting more and more important. Along with higher cutting speeds due to extremely high tool speeds and feed rates, the demands for rotating tooling systems have also increased.

By now, balanced tools are necessary in order to make full use of a CNC machine’s capacity. With the Tool Dynamic TD Comfort, HAIMER USA LLC (Villa Park, IL) offers you a universal balancing machine program with which you can balance your tool holders, grinding wheel adapters or other rotors and work pieces fast, easily, accurately and efficiently.

Reliable, quick and efficient — the perfect balancing machines for tool holders, grinding wheels and rotors. Features include:

  • Flexibility for future requirements due to modular construction with four versions available, offering a perfect solution for every need.
  • Balancing in one or two planes.
  • Unique high precision spindle taper adapter system with automatic clamping for all common tooling systems and tapers.
  • Highest measuring accuracy and repeatability.
  • Adapters for rotors with a center bore (e.g. grinding wheels).
  • Unbalance correction by drilling, milling, balancing rings and weights.

Start.2 Shrink Fit Unit from Lyndex-Nikken.

Lyndex-Nikken (Mundelein, IL) offers two shrink fit unit models: Start.2 is an entry level shrink fit unit that is compact and lightweight, and the FI-6 shrink fit unit is ideal for shops doing high changeovers for production setups. Both models include features such as:

  • High speed shrinking for most shank sizes in two seconds
  • Automatic detection of cutting tool sizes to eliminate overheating of the toolholder
  • Inductor rotates 180° to easily remove broken tools
  • Shrink and unshrink any type of tools and cutters — tool shank must have h6 tolerance
  • Adapters to accommodate multiple taper types

Additional features specific to each model include:

Start.2 Shrink Fit Unit: With a compact and an ergonomic design, it is easy to operate. Features include:

  • Easy mobility due to compact size and lightweight materials
  • Operate up to two cooling units simultaneously (second unit is an optional purchase)
  • Maximum tool height: 12.4” (315 mm)
  • Shrink machine unit net weight: 41.9 lbs. (19 kg)

FI-6 Shrink Fit Unit: Built for high changeover demands and designed with safety in mind. This robust shrink fit unit has one heating unit and two cooling towers combined into one unit. A moveable pot enables better safety so the operator does not have to touch the heated toolholder.  Features include:

  • Two built in cooling units to support high quantity tool assembly — allows you to cool a toolholder while heating a second tool
  • Maximum tool height 17” (432 mm)
