Expediate Your Workflow with Advanced Grinding and Polishing Solutions
Precision grinding and polishing machines successfully meet tighter dimensional tolerances, and result in finer finishes, allowing manufacturers to create reliable, repeatable processes — while shortening lead times.
New Era of Integrated, Future-ready Machining
HERMLE USA (Milwaukee, WI) has launched its GEN2 machines in America, which are a bold evolution of its renowned 5-axis machining centers. The C 650, C 32, and C 42, GEN2 bring unmatched levels of integration, efficiency, and lights-out performance. Key upgrades in the overhaul of the electrical architecture include a new ProfiNet communication bus, IO-Link-compatible sensors, and the latest generation of drive converters on HEIDENHAIN models.
New capabilities include:
- Grinding: For complex materials and fine surface finishes, ideal for aerospace and semiconductor applications.
- Diamond Polishing: For hardened components up to 60 HRC.
These processes are brought together in the new HERMLE Technology Component — a single part featuring 13 advanced machining technologies, all completed in one machine, under one setup.
Multitasking Machine now Offers Grinding Capability

Mazak Corp. (Florence, KY) unveiled the new INTEGREX i-350S NEO Multi-Tasking Machine at DISCOVER 2025. It delivers the ultimate in versatility, precision and efficiency, and builds on Mazak’s proven DONE-IN-ONE® concept. It provides increased thermal stability and combines high-performance turning, milling and, now for the first time, grinding operations along with advanced automation features.
At DISCOVER, Mazak demonstrated how manufacturers can finish parts to exacting tolerances and superior surface finishes with the ability to machine and grind in a single setup. As a result, shops also shorten lead times, reduce handling and improve process reliability.

Key features of the grinding machine include nanometer resolution and nanometer control on all axes; optimized axes travel to grind tools to micrometer sizes; ANCA Machine Intelligence; in-process measurements in volume production; and seamless integration with ANCA Integrated Manufacturing System.
Centerless Grinders Achieve High Accuracy and Precision

The Star Cutter Co. (Farmington Hills, MI) has incorporated the TRU TECH Brand into its grinding portfolio. Star Cutter has assumed design and manufacturing rights to TRU TECH grinding technology, extending its solutions across the grinding lifecycle into blank preparation and cylindrical grinding.
The TRU TECH series offers ease of use and ultrafast set up, keeping the machines running more often for greater uptime and throughput. Additionally, Perimetric™ grinding technology and CNC Pick-N-Place™ software enable these machines to achieve extremely high accuracy for high precision and micro components in numerous industries including medical, aerospace and electronics.
Ergonomic Flap Discs Finish Hard-to-Reach Areas
Saint-Gobain Abrasives (Worcester, MA) has expanded its Norton Vortex® Rapid Prep Non-Woven Flap Disc Line with the introduction of 2” and 3” “Mini” sizes featuring Norton patented Vortex agglomerate grain, an industry-first that provides a practical solution from roughing to finishing in one operation for difficult-to-reach, uneven areas.

The flap discs last longer while simultaneously producing increased cutting rates and smear-free finishes. Norton Vortex agglomerated grain technology enables the cutting power of a coarser grit while producing a finer finish, in one abrasives disc solution. Ideal for light blending, stripping, edge breaking and surface prep applications in key industries such as metal fabrication and welding, aerospace, transportation, energy and construction, these flap discs feature special three-dimensional non-woven abrasive layers. This design ensures uniform finishing with consistently low surface finish Ra. In addition, multiple layers of surface conditioning material provide added life, fewer disc changes for better efficiency and reduced vibration.
